I bought the Panasonic TC-P50G10
First thing first. According to my research, the Panasonic G10 is probably the best image quality among all TVs in mass production of the time of this review (May 2009). More important is the level of pitch-black darkness, scorching brightness, high color accuracy, and the development of good movement.
I chose the Sony over Panasonic plasma and Samsung LCD for a few reasons. (1) Compared to 120Hz LCD, Panasonic is much cheaper than Sony and Samsung. (2) I think the G10 is better in managing the movement of 120Hz LCD. (3) The colors of the plasma are more interesting to me that the LCD monitor. (4) E 'superior viewing angle. It looks perfect from every angle actually watch television without washing the color, the color quality prserving.
The third point on appeal color is subjective and calls for the description of subjective experience. There are numerous technical comparison of the colors on the other displays on the Internet, but my perceptual experience is that the colors on the plasma screen from Panasonic is a lively spicy, pungent and fascinating. The colors you see things in real life, but they are stronger than real life. A friend said: 'It's better than real, but not distorted' s like a better world color .. " If you prefer a high fedelity the colors of real life, you can use the THX mode to tune very true to share the study of color. LCD is also very lively discussion, but does not seem realistic. It's more like computer graphics and less like the color of living things. Technically this may involve the deepest black levels in plasma and LCD.
Before the G10, I had the Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ80U 46-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV. Both TVs have a color very attractive, but I responded to PZ80U and got the G10 since the G10 has a number of significant improvements over the PZ80U: it has a luminous plasma has a VGA input for PC use less energy, and more accurate colors. The structure is compact, so I can get a G10 in 1950 in space that would have only a 46 "PZ80U. In fact, the G10 is brighter and sharper top of last years model Panasonic TH-50PZ850U 50 inch 1080p Plasma HDTV Viera.
What I like about TV? It 's very bright for Plasam TV. According to online reviews and technical specifications, is the plasma bightest ever done. In Custom mode, is more than bright enough to avoid direct sunlight in my room to watch (with sunlight in the room the TV). In Vivid mode, you must prepare your ski googles. In fact, it's too bright and too saturated and constrasty to normal view. However, it is very useful for viewing low-resolution and low quality of the online video or YouTube Netflix Instant Watch. The extra boost in brightness, contrast and saturation for the low quality video online more attractive and vibrant.
Viera Cast is kinda cool. It is not a deal maker, but certainly not a disadvantage. I used the third-party firmware DD-WRT set up a Linksys WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router as a wireless bridge. So the TV can get online without running a cable to my main router.
I believe that this TV fits my needs. But no TV is perfect, at least not for the technically savvy.
So here are the drawbacks:
1. The sound is mediocre. It 'nice to watch a television program, but boring to watch a good movie or music.
True Cinema mode at 24 frames perceptually disturbing flicker, because the refresh rate is set at 48 Hz fashion. It 's a shame, because the movement is much more life-like video and less like True Cinema mode. The desire of the TV can operate at 72 Hz
2. My PC only has VGA output, but no DVI-out. (This point is important for people with a DVI-out on their computers. A DVI to VGA works fine) the VGA input on your TV does not support HD 1080. It only supports up to 1280x768. Panny would not cut the corner. Although this problem is not very important for video content, because most of the computer screen resolution is less than 1280x768. And the effect of interpolation of the pixels on a plasma screen is more like a CRT and less like an LCD. So the set is good enough to view the content with a lower resolution than the native resolution.
3. VieraCast should be improved. The content is still limited. Research on Youtube VieraCast is not so easy to use as a computer. The Amazon Video on demand price is too high (but this Panny is not really the problem). I hope that a firmware update could Netflix streaming.
4. The remote control is not as well developed as the PZ80. The three large buttons above the arrow keys are used rarely occupied by four alink, and VIERA VieraCast tool. The most common menu button is moved to a small key. Totally wrong choice of ergonomics.
5. VGA PC input is coupled to RCA audio input. I wish it was 3.5 mm (1 / 8 ") mini-jack, producing a single wire cable integrated VGA video and audio mini-jack allows. Now I have two cables.
6. The state is not rotated.
Regardless of the incidents referred to above, on the whole I found this TV to see the best combinations of price and quality. Weigh the pros far outweigh the disadvantages. The image quality of this TV is really great, as some call it "the new king of plasma." Anyone seriously considering an HDTV should look at this, now that the Pioneer Kuro leave the market. I use it with a PS3, the Energy Take Classic 5.1 Home Entertainment System (Set of six, Black), Denon AVR 589 and a receiver antenna Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV for terrestrial HDTV reception. It 's very fun to watch BD movies, play games and see what TVS single video stream from Netflix on my laptop.
I highly recommend it.
